About Lake Ponca
Lake Ponca is the city's recreational lake — about 700 acres of water just east of downtown, owned and managed by the city. It's free to enter, free to fish (with an Oklahoma fishing license), and the closest place to spend a summer afternoon.
The lake has multiple boat ramps, a designated swimming beach, kayak and paddleboard rentals at the Lake Ponca Boathouse, and a 2-mile walking trail that loops the western edge. The Hub H2O Waterpark sits on the south shore. Cabin rentals are available through the city.
This is where Ponca City spends summer. Fourth of July fireworks launch over the lake; high school senior photos get taken here; and the cottonwoods around the loop trail are the best fall color in town. Bring a fishing pole if you have one.
