Disc Golf
Ponca City is one of Oklahoma's premier disc golf destinations, with eight free public courses spread across the city's parks and lakeside. New players should start at the 5th Street course (also called Bunny Hills) at War Memorial Park, across from the high school — it's the most beginner-friendly layout, with a few drainage ditches on the front five to keep things interesting. More experienced players come for Bois D'Arc, famous for having some of the tightest tree tunnels in Oklahoma, and its lakeside sister course, The Lake, which was redesigned ahead of the 2026 tournament season. Rounding out the options are Willow Springs out near the refinery (watch for the resident geese — the local "enforcers"), the nine-hole Mando course at Johnson Park with its smaller baskets, and the short Coon Creek layout. Every public course is free to play. The Ponca City Disc Golf Club (PCDGC) maintains the courses and hosts tournaments throughout the year, including the Ponca City Open and its PCO Winter Edition. New to the sport? A starter disc pack runs about $20, and the free UDisc app offers GPS guidance and updated maps for every layout.

Ponca City RecPlex
The Ponca City RecPlex is a 79,000-square-foot, family-friendly recreation complex packed with ways to play and stay active. Inside you'll find a six-lane, 25-yard competition lap pool plus a family pool with a spiral water slide, a rock climbing wall, a trampoline zone, and courts for basketball, racquetball, and volleyball. A well-equipped fitness area rounds out the offerings with free weights and varied workout spaces. Operated by the city's Parks and Recreation Department, it's a standout destination for visitors and residents looking to burn off energy on any day of the week.

Set against the backdrop of the iconic 30-foot Pioneer Woman Statue, this open-air market brings local growers and makers together each season at the Pioneer Woman Museum grounds. Browse tables piled with fresh fruits and vegetables, salad greens, herbs, honey, watermelons, peaches, farm-fresh eggs, cut flowers, and quality Made in Oklahoma products. Running seasonally from roughly June through September, it's a relaxed, family-friendly way to taste the region's bounty and meet the people who grow it. Kaw Lake Equestrian Trails
Horseback riders will find roughly 30 miles of scenic equestrian trails winding along the eastern shore of Kaw Lake just outside Ponca City. The Five Fingers Equestrian Trail runs from Burbank Landing to the Sarge Creek Cove area, carrying riders through woodlands and lakeside terrain managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The trails are also popular with hikers exploring the same beautiful country. Note that the trails close during Oklahoma's deer rifle and primitive firearms seasons, so it's wise to check ahead before saddling up.

Single and tandem kayaks are available by the half-hour, hour, or full day from the kayak barn near the Sailboat Marina on the lake's east side. For something special, sign up for a guided sunrise or sunset tour, or arrange a group outing by appointment during the warmer months. With wooded shoreline, fishing docks, and picnic spots nearby, it's a laid-back way to spend an afternoon outdoors. Reservations and tour registration are handled through the Ponca City RecPlex.

Founded in 1945, Silvertop Farm & Vineyards is a sprawling working farm and vineyard rooted in diversified agriculture and community service in the rolling hills north of Ponca City. Skateboarding & BMX Park
Action-sports fans will feel right at home at the Dan Moran Skatepark, a 100-by-100-foot concrete plaza built for skateboarders, BMX riders, and rollerbladers of every skill level. The park is packed with metal ramps and obstacles, including a wedge, street box, quarter and half pipes, grind rails, and a launch table, giving riders plenty to session. Named for local skateboarding legend Dan Moran, the spot reflects his passion for the sport and the community. It sits within Dan Moran Park, which also offers a splash pad, dog park, playground, and picnic areas, and is open daily from daylight to dark.

Tennis players of all levels are welcome at the Wally Smith Tennis Center, a public, city-operated complex in Ponca City.
